What You Need to About Candida, Fibromyalgia and Yeast Overgrowth

yeastSimply put, the three have certain things in common. Fibromyalgia shares certain similarities with yeast overgrowth. Yeast overgrowth however is not solely confined to vaginal yeast infection, which for its part, is attributed to the increase in the number of candida albicans in the human body. As brought up by the Fibromyalgia Coalition International and Carolyn Dean, a medical and naturophatic doctor, pain and tiredness are common complaints given by people suffering from fibromyalgia and yeast infections.

Translating the terms in layman’s terms

Fibromyalgia is defined in the U.S. National Institutes of Health as a disorder that causes muscle pain as well as fatigue. Certain areas-referred to as tender points-in the legs, arms, hips, back, shoulders, and neck feels pain whenever pressure is applied on them. Headaches, painful menstrual periods, sleeping, thinking, and memory problems are among the other symptoms that signal such conditions.

Candida according to the U.S. National Institutes of Health is the scientific name for yeast. It is describe by the Merriam-Webster dictionary a a yeast-like parasitic fungi. The human body normally has it. Because of that, it is considered to be generally harmless. It is its overgrowth that leads to problems that can range from minor to fatal conditions. In an article entitled “Are you suffering from candida overgrowth?”, the author mentioned three of the most obvious symptoms linked to it and they include thrush, cystitis, and fungal infections affecting the nails and skin.

Yeast infections happen when the yeast-like parasitic fungi earlier defined multiplies in number. Such multiplication may take place when you are ill or under medications such as antibiotics, birth control, immune-suppressants or countless other medications. Infections may occur in the mouth, vagina, skin, and even bloodstream among others. Yeast infections may affect men and women differently.

Other things that relate the three

The Fibromyalgia Coalition International and Dean also highlight another link connecting yeast overgrowth to Fibromyalgia. That is in relation to how people with this condition manage to cope. In particular, they take anti-candida diets.

The connection is also evident with the way they affect the immune system. For instance, the symptoms associated to fibromyalgia as Dean pointed out signify widespread immune involvement. Candida overgrowth is known to prompt immune reactions in the body.

Harm done to your body and life in general

Besides disrupting the normal functions of the body, the problems that those three create can affect your daily activities as well. Poor health can weaken you. As a result, you will find it hard to take on your responsibilities as usual. It may take some time before you can completely recover. That would cause you to postpone certain activities you could have otherwise checked out of the list.

Your poor health can also negatively affect not just you alone but the people around you as well. If you have a family, pain and fatigue for example can stop you from spending quality time with your partner and kids. Also, you may not be able to report to work because you are not feeling well. Managing your work demands may not be easy especially if they have already piled up beginning from the day you decided to stay at home to rest instead.

The time which has been lost cannot be recovered any longer. And you know quite well that time is not the only thing that a poor health can take away from you.

Why should this concern you?

Most likely, this is not the first time you have heard about muscle pain and fatigue. In all likelihood, you also know what it feels like to experience any of the two. Also, you must have similarly taken antibiotics at any one point in your lifetime. Furthermore, you too must have heard about and even complained about yeast infections at one point or another. That being said, the things associated with the matters we have discussed with you are things you can relate to basically because you have firsthand encounter with any one of all three of them.

It is great if you were able to address such problems when they happened to you. It is also a good idea to consult with the doctor if any of such issues bothers you at present. But if you are inclined to dismiss any of those matters as things that do not exactly warrant concern, then we suggest that you reconsider your decision.

You and I sometimes regard the usual as being normal. And that is a big mistake that you and I commit. Therefore, it is important to remember that we need to listen to our body and pay attention to the messages it tries to communicate to us. That way, we can save ourselves from the trouble that illnesses bring with them. Moreover, we should not forget that unless we have the proper background to assess our physical health, we have to acknowledge the need to consult with the doctor.
